Java

A programming language developed specially for the Internet. Java enables animations, moving strips, etc. on web pages. Java programs run independently of the system, i.e. they can be used equally on Mac, Unix or Windows computers.

JavaScript

A macro language from Netscape that can be integrated in HTML. Technically, Javascript has nothing to do with Java. The expression can be traced back to marketing considerations, because, at the introduction of Javascript, "Java" was on everyone's tongue. JavaScript is particularly suitable for checking form entries, can perform calculations, display moving screens and determine some technical data about the respective computer as well as triggering appropriate actions.

Joint Electronic Payment Initiative (JEPI)

Proposed by CommerceNet and the W3 Consortium, an Internet payment standard focusing on data security and interoperability between payment schemes.
